SOMETIME Kichijoji is a long-running Tokyo jazz club tucked away in the basement streets of Kichijoji, one of the city’s best neighbourhoods for music, cafés and evening walks. Open since 1975, SOMETIME combines live jazz with food and drinks in a relaxed setting that works for jazz fans, couples, groups and even first-time visitors who want to experience live music in Tokyo without a formal dress code.
The venue’s biggest appeal is how close you feel to the music. Time Out Tokyo notes that the stage sits in the centre of the club, making it easy to see and hear performers up close. The official site also describes SOMETIME as a place where guests can enjoy quality jazz, food and alcohol at reasonable prices, while welcoming both serious jazz listeners and people visiting a jazz club for the first time.

SOMETIME Kichijoji jazz club review
The atmosphere at SOMETIME Kichijoji is intimate, warm and easy to settle into. Unlike larger concert venues, this is the kind of place where you can have a drink, order food and watch musicians perform from just a few metres away. It feels especially suited to a slower night out after exploring Kichijoji, Inokashira Park or the shopping streets around the station.
Live music is the main reason to visit. Evening performances usually run as two sets, with the first set from 7pm to 8pm and the second from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The official Q&A says one music charge lets guests enjoy both sets, and the venue does not operate as a replacement system between sets.

SOMETIME Kichijoji lunch and weekend jazz
SOMETIME Kichijoji is not only an evening jazz club. The venue also operates daily at lunchtime from 12pm to 5pm, with last orders at 4pm. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, there are daytime jazz performances, usually with sets from 1pm to 2pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
That makes it a useful choice if you want live music without staying out late. A weekend lunch jazz session can work well for visitors spending a day in Kichijoji, especially if you want to combine it with cafés, vintage shops, Harmonica Yokocho or a walk around Inokashira Park.
