I spent a night in Sapporo, and Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery genuinely blew me away.

This is not just another clean city hotel. It has real style. Located right beside Sapporo Factory and the historic brewery district, Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery feels like a luxury hotel with a story behind it: part Hokkaido heritage, part modern design stay, and part polished Accor boutique hotel.

The interior design is one of the first things that stands out. It has that rich, dramatic MGallery feeling, with warm lighting, Japanese-Western design details, deep colours and a slightly royal atmosphere without feeling stiff. For the price point, the hotel felt seriously impressive.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery hotel review

The biggest reason I liked Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery was the overall feel.

The hotel is directly across from the Sapporo Factory area, which sits on the former Kaitakushi Brewery site connected to Sapporo’s beer history. That gives the whole stay a stronger sense of place than a standard hotel near the station.

Inside, the design pays tribute to Sapporo’s pioneer-era heritage, but it does not feel old-fashioned. The fit-out is modern, elegant and high quality, with enough personality to make the hotel feel memorable.

It is a great choice if you want a Sapporo stay that feels more special than a business hotel, but still practical for sightseeing, shopping, food and transport.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery rooms

The room at Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery was one of the highlights of my stay.

It felt modern, crisp and high quality, with a proper luxury finish. The bathroom was especially good, and the room had that calm, polished design that makes you want to actually spend time there instead of just using it as a place to sleep.

The hotel has 118 rooms and suites, including Superior, Deluxe, Executive and Hamanasu Suite categories. Some Executive rooms include perks like Refreshment Time or Cocktail Time access, and the Hamanasu Suite offers a larger luxury layout with views connected to the area’s historic brewery setting.

For couples, design lovers or anyone wanting a stylish Sapporo base, the room quality is one of the main selling points.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery Accor Gold benefits

One of the reasons my stay at Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery felt even better was my Accor Gold membership.

During my stay, I received a free late checkout and a welcome drink, which made the experience feel smoother and better value. That is one of the reasons I like booking Accor properties directly when possible — the loyalty benefits can genuinely improve the stay.

If you are already an ALL Accor member, this is the kind of hotel where status benefits feel worth having. If not, it may still be worth joining before booking, especially if you plan to use Accor hotels around Japan or overseas.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery restaurant, bar and lounge

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery also has strong on-site facilities.

The hotel restaurant focuses on Hokkaido ingredients with international ideas, and the design is inspired by old German breweries, connecting back to Sapporo’s beer history. Breakfast is served buffet-style, with Japanese and international options using seasonal Hokkaido ingredients.

The bar lounge is another standout. It has a warm, atmospheric feel with a copper beer-kiln-inspired fireplace, Sapporo beer, Kaitakushi Beer from the brewery across the street, Hokkaido wine and cocktails.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery bar and executive lounge feel

The bar and lounge area at Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery really adds to the hotel’s atmosphere.

It does not feel like a generic lobby bar. It feels designed, intentional and connected to the local story. The copper fireplace, the beer heritage details and the moody lighting all make it a great place for an evening drink after exploring Sapporo.

Guests staying in Executive room types can also access light snacks and drinks during Refreshment and Cocktail Time, which gives the hotel a more premium feel if you choose that room category.

The hotel also has a fitness centre, so it works well if you want to keep some routine while travelling.
