WAQOO Naritasan Monzen is a luxury hotel in Narita, Chiba, made for travellers who want more than a standard airport stay. Located on the historic approach to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, the hotel is just two minutes on foot from the temple and around 18 minutes by taxi from Narita Airport, making it a strong choice for a first night, final night or slow cultural stop near the airport.
The hotel blends Japanese-modern comfort with local history. WAQOO Naritasan Monzen opened in October 2022 to fit into the traditional Naritasan Monzenmachi townscape, an area connected to the Japan Heritage story “An Edo Travelogue through Four Hokuso Cities.”

WAQOO Naritasan Monzen hotel guide
The main reason to book WAQOO Naritasan Monzen is the location. Instead of staying at a generic airport hotel, guests can walk straight out onto Naritasan Omotesando, a traditional shopping street lined with restaurants, souvenir shops, sweets shops and eel restaurants. The official access page notes that the hotel faces the Naritasan approach road and is surrounded by places worth exploring on foot.
Inside the hotel, the atmosphere is designed around Kabuki and Naritasan history. The hotel displays items connected to the Ichikawa family, and guests can also rent Kabuki-patterned yukata for free to walk around the neighbourhood.
WAQOO Naritasan Monzen rooms
Rooms at WAQOO Naritasan Monzen are spacious by Japanese hotel standards. Options include the Standard Twin at 36㎡, Japanese-style room at 38㎡, Superior Suite at 50㎡, Superior Suite Triple at 51㎡, Deluxe Suite at 57㎡ and the Premium WAQOO Suite at 99㎡.
The rooms combine Japanese-style relaxation with Western comfort, with features such as free Wi-Fi, air purifiers, refrigerators, electric kettles, tea sets, coffee machines, Dyson hair dryers and original Kabuki yukata. Some rooms also face the temple approach road, giving the stay a stronger sense of place.

WAQOO Naritasan Monzen dining and baths
Dining is another highlight. The hotel serves WAQOO Kaiseki Cuisine, based on Kyoto cuisine and adapted with local character. The official site describes dinner as a Kyoto kaiseki-style meal using seasonal ingredients, while breakfast is designed as a gentle Japanese meal using traditional Kyoto cooking techniques.
There is also a public bath using black silica stone, which the hotel describes as a stone associated with purification before visiting the temple. Bathing hours are listed as 3pm–midnight and 6am–9am.
